Dedicated to your cause
While I was going through one of the worse times of my life, I heard about the FELSC and it saved my life. As a government employee with a superior employment work record for 30 years, I started being harassed by a coworker. I addressed it with my agency with no success. After dealing with the harassment for years, I became unable to work and requested a medical accommodation, the agency ignored me. I contacted 20 attorneys and no-one would take my case. I called FELSC and Attorney Rosemary Dettling responded to my desperation. After years of the agency stalling, filing frivolous motions and throwing tantrums, my case finally went to trial. Ms Dettling had to work through an enormous amount of issues, but she stood by me with support and her knowledge of the law. She could have taken on cases that would have paid more but she stuck with me through some really tough times. We won a GREAT settlement due to her hard work. I will be eternally grateful. She is worth the cost.

Best of the Best!
When searching for an attorney to handle my EEO case, I wanted to find one that would represent me as if they were representing themselves. I live in NC and I had no idea where to start looking for an attorney; so, I went online. I googled “EEO attorneys” and came across Ms. Rosemary Dettling. I saw that she handled EEO cases for federal employees – I decided to give her a call. I was afraid that the information online was fake so I kept my fingers crossed. Ms. Dettling returned my call and we talked about my case. I was still a little nervous because she was in another state and it was my first time hiring an attorney. During our initial conversation, I could see how serious she was about obtaining information on the case so that she could get started. Especially since I hired her just weeks before my hearing. She did not mess around. Most of my interaction with Ms. Dettling was telephonic. I did not meet Ms. Dettling until the day of the hearing. During the hearing, Ms. Dettling asked all the right questions; I could tell she had done her homework! I was very impressed with her skills. My case is still ongoing. Even though we don’t know what the outcome will be, I am very very satisfied with Ms. Dettling’s work. As a matter of fact, the opposing party’s attorney kept telling me what a great and smart attorney I had. He said if he ever needed an attorney to represent him, he would love to hire her. Ms. Dettling works very hard in preparing for her cases and is very knowledgeable of the federal laws. I would definitely recommend her to handle any case!

You could not ask for a better attorney
Not many attorneys will go up against the DoD, especially when it comes to a discrimination suit against the government involving denying reasonable accommodation for someone with a disability. Rosemary stepped up to the plate. She came highly recommended by other people who have had success with her in the past involving litigation with the government. Even though Rosemary is in DC and I am in California she took the time to answer all my questions and to reassure me throughout the process. She met all the crazy deadlines the DoD outlined and kept me informed. She was there for me every step of the way. When we went to trial, all I can say is that Rosemary is a Rockstar. She was exceptionally prepared and much more familiar with my case than the opposing side. My case is not entirely final, but in the preliminary decision she got me everything I could have wanted and more. If you need to go up against the Federal Government you could not ask for a better attorney than Rosemary Dettling.

Amazing!
Rosemary Dettling is an amazing lawyer! Let me start off by saying she has showed me a great deal of compassion and understanding as my case has been very stressful for me. She has taken the time out of her personal day to assure me of my case and laid my anxiety to rest. She is straight forward with her rates, I believe she is very comparable in pricing, there are no hidden fees. Rosemary took my case when no one else would. Her knowledge of my case, confidence and professionalism during court presenting my case exceeded my expectations! I would and have recommended Rosemary Dettling to anyone needing an EEOC lawyer. There are no words that can describe my gratitude for R as she believes in me and my case. Thank you Rosemary.

Outstanding and Understanding
Ms. Dettling was the expert I needed in my MSPB against the US Army. She her expertise guided me through the year long ordeal the agency. During pre-hearing meetings, Ms. Dettling's understanding of the law and similar case law gave me a clear advantage. She is smart, tough and does her homework to make sure you have the best case and ability to win. She understood my federal position and was able to ask the questions to get the information she needed for my case. Ms. Dettling is to be able to immerse herself in each of her cases giving her clients the best guidance, advice, and counsel. I would not hesitate to recommend her to others. Ms. Dettling is the best of the best.

Excellent counsel. I live in DC and was overwhelmed after losing my job. The FELSC team took my case even though it was a complex whistleblower case. They were very patient and professional. I could tell from the first comversation that I was in in very competent hands. My husband, who is also a fed employee, aIso used FELSC, and he was also pleased. We paid a small deposit for each case. After my settlement (and my husband's win), we received our deposit back. I highly recommend this firm to anyone who needs excellent employment lawyers!
-Zed I.
While the law firm can be difficult to reach initially, this was explained by the high case volume and inability to take more clients at the time. She was very thorough in the intaking process and made sure that the case was well known. After becoming a client, all messages, emails, and phone calls were promptly answered and all questions were answered. Not only was she extremely fair and competitive in price, her knowledge of the case exceeded my expectation by far. I would highly recommend her service to any employee in a MSPB or EEO case, as her professionalism is exceptional.

Best Decision I Ever Made
In 2007 I filed an EEO Complaint against my employer for a hostile work environment and later included retaliation when I was denied a promotion. The case went to mediation and I won my promotion and a 2-step increase, however I was responsible for my attorney fees. My attorney at the time warned me that this would not be the end of it. As soon as the agreement was signed, the retaliation began in earnest, subtle at first and later to the point that I was falsely accused of unprofessional conduct. I contacted my first attorney to represent me but he declined the case. I then contacted what I thought to be a reputable law firm in DC, only to be bled dry of what little savings I had as well as what I had to borrow against my 401K before we even got to hearing. Ultimately that was the point I realized that my attorneys had no intention of going to hearing, even though I was adamant upon hiring them that this time I had to go to hearing. This firm switched my attorney three times in the three weeks prior to the actual depositions, and during the deposition phase failed to properly represent me. When I declined to sign a new retainer for responding to Agency’s Motion for Summary Judgement, which was due in one week, my attorney stated that “This time they would really fight for me and in the next breath stated he had a great idea to get agency to settle”. At that point, I hung up the phone and searched desperately for a new attorney to represent me. That is when I found Rosemary Dettling. She took my case at the 11th hour (less than 1 week to respond to agency’s motion for SJ), received my file less than two business days prior to the response date because my former law firm dragged their feet in releasing my file) and was able to make such a compelling argument to deny SJ that we were granted a hearing date. The hearing was held last week and when I tell you that Rosemary Dettling is the ONLY attorney you should have represent you before the EEOC, that is a huge understatement! She was able to get all of agency’s witnesses to admit wrongdoing when I think they actually believed they were credible witnesses! We have not received a decision yet from the hearing, but I am confident that we will prevail. Rosemary Dettling is the most competent, knowledgeable and compassionate attorney I have ever met and I would not be in the position I currently find myself in without her. You will not find better representation anywhere! As frightening as it was to switch attorneys at the last minute, it was the best decision I have made in my adult life! I highly recommend Rosemary Dettling, and I am proud to call her my attorney.

The Long Road to Victory
Rosemary Dettling is an outstanding attorney!! Throughout the course of my EEO case (which spanned a number of years), Ms. Dettling was always professional, thorough, and above all, focused. Ms. Dettling's closing argument was impressive, to say the least, and brought home all the points that were needed for victory. She is well versed in the rights of federal employees and I would not hesitate to recommend Ms. Dettling's services to anyone!
-Barbara
Lifesaver!
I relied completely on Ms. Dettling's knowledge and expertise to help me through the most frightening and disturbing events of my professional career. Her calm guidance and experience were reassuring to me and her professional manner and communication projected serious intent to others. Her involvement in and handling my case made a huge positive difference that I could not have brought about without her. For situations involving employment disputes with the Federal government, I highly recommend Ms. Dettling and her team!

Federal Government cases
Ms. Dettling recently represented me in a wrongful termination case against the Federal Government. I would never have been able to navigate the process without her. She is knowledgeable, informed and very supportive. I cannot stress the last enough. Being terminated after 30 years of service was devastating. I am certain, without her support, I would have given up. Additionally, because she is straigtforward and honest, I trusted her assessment of the agency case and my prospective outcome. Ms. Dettling did a thorough job of preparing me and my witnesses for the hearing which would have been a nerve-wracking experience otherwise. At the hearing Ms. Dettling was in her element. She was confident and assured. She managed the testimony of witnesses with ease. During cross examination she was able to demonstrate the weaknesses in the agency's case. She led me carefully through each aspect of my testimony giving me the opportunity to counter each of the agency's charges. I have already recommended Ms. Dettling to a close friend who had a successful outcome in her case and would use her again.

A Great Job
Rosemary came highly recommended and she has done an excellent job. She thinks quickly in tense situations and is very knowledgeable concerning discrimination laws. She is an attorney you can talk to - very personable. My case is still being decided but I am very pleased with her representation and highly recommend her to others in the federal workplace who are facing any type of discrimination.

Top Notch
FELSC were very patient and helped me understand the legal principles of my case and what I needed to do to win. They discussed the burdens of proof and never talked down to me.I was pleased to learn that my retainer was used sparingly and mostly for work that had to be completed for the judge. They definitely do not gouge you. I am always suspicions and was pleasantly surprised that they dispelled all my previous opinions of lawyers.

I was worried about hiring an attorney in DC so far away from where I live (LA), but I was pleasantly surprised by how responsive they were. I am a long-time client. A while ago, I was terminated after requesting accommodation, and Ms. Dettling was able to get me reinstated. She did it for a flat rate, which was very reasonable. A few years later, I discussed the VERA resignation option with her and decided to take it. No sooner had I signed the paper than the military informed me that I had to buy back my active-duty time. It would have been thousands of dollars. Ms. Dettling was able to resolve the issue without me having to make any payments. Good job!

They were very patient and helped me understand the legal principles of my case and what I needed to do to win. They discussed the burdens of proof and never talked down to me. They hardly ever billed for phone calls an administrative things like emails. I was pleased to learn that my retainer was used sparingly and only for work that had to be completed for the judge. They definitely do not gouge you. I am always suspicions and was pleasantly surprised that they dispelled all my previous opinions of lawyers.

I had a great experience working with this law firm. They answered all my questions and wrote letters immediately to help me. Their reputation must be known, because the agency quickly settled. I was very pleased with the settlement.

A Warrior for Justice
Words cannot even begin to describe how grateful I am for the truly exceptional services that I received from Rosemary Dettling Esquire and Kristen Farr Esquire of the Federal Employees Legal Services Center (FELSC). Their attention to detail and their dedication speaks volumes. I reached out to this firm for legal assistance when I was at my lowest point and all other avenues of redress to resolve the issues at the lowest level, were exhausted. When I finally decided to hire them, the Agency knew that I meant business. They came in and performed miracles. The backstory, I hired them to represent me regarding a case against my former Agency for discrimination; based upon race and disability; retaliation, and for subjecting hostile work environment. FELSC was extremely knowledgeable regarding these matters and got straight to work defending me. They were very reasonably priced compared to other law firms in the National Capital Region (NCR) and quite frankly, had better reviews over the others as well. I now know that the positive reviews were spot on. Upon speaking with Mrs. Dettling, It was obvious that she truly cared about my case and was adamant about seeking justice. She stuck by my side every step of the way. She wasn't out to nickel and dime me like I hear other firms have done to victims in the area. Mrs. Dettling worked tirelessly and effortlessly on my case day and night, while showing the utmost compassion. I was able to text, email, or call her anytime, and she'd respond right away. If you haven't guessed, I am EXTREMELY greatful for the level of service that I received. If I'm ever faced with the circumstances that I previously faced, she is the ONLY attorney that I'd trust to call. She showed great deal of empathy and persistence in my case throughout. She was able to put the facts of my case together quickly and highlighted things that I wasn't even aware of in order to build a strong defense. I remember reading that Mrs. Dettling is a shark when defending her clients. That in my opinion would be an understatement. She didn't take any crap from the Agency when they tried pull their typical tricks to disrupt and sabotage my case. You can tell that she was very well respected and highly regarded by the Judge. The end result was that Mrs. Dettling was able to negotiate a very generous settlement from the Agency, and ultimately ending a nightmare that lasted for years. I know that I could've never accomplished this without the assistance of Rosemary, Kirsten, and the FELSC team. They, in my opinion, are true champions of justice and social change. If you need a good lawyer, don't think about it, just do it. You can thank me later.

Victim of Federal EEO harassment
The best decision I made was hiring Ms. Dettling for my federal EEO complaint. After being harassed at my federal job and being subjected to a hostile work environment, I filed an EEO complaint. Then the retaliation started and I had to file another complaint. The stress had become debilitating and I had to leave my job but Ms Dettling stepped in at the 11th hour to help me. I am so grateful to her for taking my case, when no-one else would help me. The agency has not acted professionally and the EEO has not been professional in their comments and actions. Ms Dettling has stuck to her ethics and issues and is not giving up on our fight. She even recognized that the agency ignored my request for a medical accommodation and helped me work through that complaint. Her prices have been reasonable, especially considering all the work she has had to do on my case. I am so grateful for her knowledge and determination.

Couldn’t have found better representation
Ms. Dettling knows federal employment law inside out. She represented me in a disability discrimination case against my former Agency & got the maximum award for me. She knows the law inside out, so it seemed to be no great effort for her to quickly establish that my supervisor refused to even participate in an interactive dialog. She won’t hold your hand much, but that’s not why people need lawyers. She does what you need a lawyer for. She delivers.

EEO and reprisal case
Ms. Dettling has been my lawyer for over 5 years. My case was on the basis of reprisal from my ex-federal employer. The case led to a second case where she refused to let me go and she has been very faithful and kind. She has been outstanding and was very professional at all times. I won my case and I am very thankful for her help.

Success in getting federal annuity corrected
Ms Dettling did a wonderful job in getting my federal annuity corrected. She worked hard to identify the proper authorities to contact and was dogged in her pursuit of a successful outcome.

Outstanding Federal Employee Lawyer
Ms. Dettling has been my lawyer for about two years now, Ms. Dettling has shown the professionalism, expertise and passion it takes, in my opinion, to deal with very intricate and detailed cases. My personal cases are both whistleblower retaliation for protected disclosures against the U.S. Army, one for removal from my security compliance duties, and one for my termination. Though Ms. Dettling knew nothing about my duties when I first selected her as my Counselor, by the hearing dates Ms. Dettling was able to communicate and cut through the bureaucracy as if she new my profession inside and out. Ms. Dettling has acquired nothing but positive results in both cases.

Great work
Rosemary Dettling is an outstanding attorney, and I am fortunate that I found her. I was extremely disappointed after being misadvised by my previous counsel, and I had given up when by a stroke of luck, I found her website and wrote to her about my situation. She understood my situation and immediately began working on my case. Now, thanks to FELSC my issues are being addressed by the EEOC Judge. Regardless of the outcome, I will always be thankful because I have been given a chance that would have otherwise been lost if it was not for Mrs. Dettling's knowledge and compassion for others in the pursuit of justice in the federal employment legal system.

Attorney and Dettling Client
Ms. Dettling represented me in a discrimination matter against the U.S. Department of Justice. That's right, just imagine taking on that agency. Yet through use of technology, she was able to protect my interests, despite the fact that I was not stationed in D.C. I am a lawyer who worked with lawyers for many years before passing the Bar. As such, I can confidently attest that Ms. Dettling can skillfully assist a client in employment distress by immediately focusing on critical issues. She does so, to the exclusion of issues that are irrelevant or not yet ripe for resolution. Ms. Dettling will respond to client communications. She was not daunted by the prospect of taking on USDOJ or by voluminous discovery materials. Though my matter is still pending, Ms. Dettling has already assisted in achieving a significant improvement in my situation. When the agency took inappropriate actions that warranted her immediate intervention, Ms. Dettling had my back. It is arguable that attorneys make bad clients (on the logic that "no one can do it like I can"). But when an attorney realizes that he is out of his area of expertise or truly in over his head, he may realize that it is high time to bring on an advocate. I am very grateful that Ms. Dettling did not refuse to take my case just because I was a lawyer. I recall that during my initial contact with her, I was worn out from the fight and frightened of the likely consequences of having been a whistleblower and of filing suit against my agency. Even the agency's internal complaint procedure turned into a very lengthy process and was a nightmare to navigate. From our first conversation, Ms. Dettling listened compassionately and recommended action that I am convinced was my ultimate salvation. Finally, for employees who -- like me -- did not get in it "for the money," but instead want justice and the right to get back to work without discriminatory hazing, a consultation with Ms. Dettling to be as welcome as an oasis in the desert.

EEO Case
Finding a lawyer in a small town that is willing to work with you against a large government agency is very difficult. Finding one on-line thousands of miles away is very scary. You send them thousands of dollars and hope it is a legimate web site. For those of you government employees in this situation, you need to know that this lawyer is one you can trust. In the beginning I was very worried that I had done the wrong thing in hiring an attorney on-line in another state. However, Ms. Dettling proved to be exactly what I needed and was very patient with me through my initial fears and lack of legal knowledge. Ms. Dettling took a lot of grief from the judge and the opposing attorney to the point where it bordered on verbal abuse. She stood her ground in my defense and knew the law and defended it against a bias judge. If you have an EEO case against the federal government, try her. You won't be disappointed.

Best Lawyer in DC for protecting your rights as a government employee
I have engaged Ms. Dettling on several job-related appeals to the MSPB and the EEOC. She is an outstanding lawyer and she will stick with you through "thick and thin" to win your case(s). I have never witnessed another lawyer with her inherent abilities to prepare credible, well-written, and logical briefs. She is easy to communicate with and she will take your calls. What distinguishes Ms. Dettling from other lawyers is that she combines compassion and intellect with excellent legal representation. You cannot do better than her if you are fighting unfair and unfounded actions initiated by the federal government. She truly takes your interests to heart. She is tenacious when it comes to fighting for your rights and your job.

Excellent Attorney
Ms. Dettling is an excellent attorney. She is dedicated in seeking justice for those who have been wrongfully accused, mistreated, harmed or terminated by their employer. After discussing my case with her, I found her to be truthful, honest, direct, open-minded and a very experienced attorney. She is a “power hitter” in her field and her techniques are exceptional. At the hearing, her presentation of the facts was outstanding and her line of questioning was brilliant. Although, my case is not over, she is the best attorney in this field and I would definitely nominate her as “Attorney of the Year” in her specialty. Thank you, Ms. Dettling for your efforts and professionalism.

Outstanding Attorney
Ms. Dettling has represented me during an MSPB appeal and did outstanding work. She works beyond normal working hours in case work and preparation for hearing. She is very objective and goal oriented in her work. She has vast experience in employment and Federal employment areas. Ms. Dettling is tough, but very professional in the hearing stage. I am overwhelmingly pleased with the outcome in my case and I would highly endorse Ms. Dettling's work.

An Outstanding Attorney for Federal Employees
Ms. Rosemary Dettling has been a Godsend for me. Although my case is still in progress, I would challenge anyone to produce a better attorney when it comes to federal employment matters. Ms. Dettling has extensive legal and federal experience, having worked as an attorney for two federal agencies. She works well beyond normal working hours in preparing your case for hearing. She is knowledgeable about federal law, and thorough in her evaluation of documents and transcripts. In hearings, she is quick-minded and fierce in cross examinations. She asks the right questions and gets to the heart of the matter. She commands respect of everyone in the courtroom. She is easy to talk to and admirable in her work.

A True Champion
Ms. Dettling has represented me in an EEO case for the last four years. The record in my case contains almost 3,000 pages. Ms. Dettling was very skilled at sorting through this huge volume of documents and testimony and highlighting those issues that blatantly violated my rights. Because of her skill and perserverance, we recently won our case by a landslide. I will be forever grateful for her help because I never could have accomplished this on my own. It was far to overpowering to try to fight the federal government without a true champion by my side.

Great experience with attorney Rosemary Dettling. She's knowledgeable, smart, and responsive. Judge seems to respect her. Also had positive dealings with FELSC attorneys Donohue, Graham, and Shaw. Case isnt over but I'm feeling good about it.

Great Attorney!
Within the first few minutes of our telephone conversation, I knew that Ms. Dettling understood what was happening to me. Ms. Dettling was able to weed out irrelevant issues and bring the focus of EEO misconduct forward, to the Administrative Judge. My case was complex at times, and I felt somewhat overwhelmed by the system and its legal terms. Ms. Dettling reassured me about the developments of my case and was always straight-forward and patient when answering my questions. I am not assigned to the Washington DC area and I could only speak with Ms. Dettling via telephone. The distance was irrelevant to my case, as Ms. Dettling was able to complete all needed documents via email and fax, in a most timely fashion. After eighteen months of involvement with my case, Ms. Dettling’s additional strengths were shown when she arrived for the EEOC Hearing. The agency never took my complaint seriously, instead making up issues about me, where there were none. After Ms. Dettling’s cross-examination, it is to their regret, I’m most certain. I am very grateful to have met Ms. Dettling.

Professional and intelligent
Rosemary took my case in May of this year. When I thought about going up against a Federal Government agency, I was nervous, Rosemary was not! I was so impressed with her professional attitude, positive demeanor and strong knowledge of my rights. She worked had to force the defendants attorneys to turn over necessary documentation. She fought hard to ensure all evidence and witnessed were admitted. She was always going the extra mile to get things done. She cared about my case and fought hard for me. My case was settled out of court with a positive outcome on my behalf. I could not have done it without Rosemary and I will be forever grateful.

Excellent Lawyer Review
TO: Federal Employees Legal Services Center (Rosemary Dettling) SUBJECT: Testimonial When I finally was able to locate an attorney that was experienced in federal government employee/employment issues I was truly at my wits end. There are a lot of attorneys out there who deal with all sorts of legal issues surrounding disability compensations, etc., but finding experienced legal experts who understand the civilian federal government employment issues is very difficult. Having 27 years of federal government employment years, and suddenly having to deal with the possibility of losing my position based on issues totally outside of my control, I was, sufficed to say, fearful of the possible outcomes. I’ve never had to retain the services of an attorney on any issues in my 49 years — and I was very insecure about the whole attorney/client process. Ms. Dettling put my insecurities to rest during our first initial phone contact just by her assurances that she would represent me by maintaining my interests and needs were going to be her primary concern. Ms. Dettling’s approach and business/legal acumen in dealing with my agency produced an excellent settlement, and my life has taken an absolutely positive direction. I am truly grateful for her excellent legal services and would recommend her to anyone who would ever have to deal with federal government employment issues, or any other legal matters. Her recommendations and decisions based on the variables in my case made for a very smooth, and stress free transition for me. I trusted her, and she delivered. My settlement was much more than I ever expected. Thanks Rosemary!

Great attorney!
I have worked for the federal government for 20 years. My case was a very complicated one that covered a period of four years. Rosemary was a Godsend to me. I was worried that someone who didn't live through it all would never understand it. Rosemary cut right through voluminous information to get right to the heart of everything. She gives me hope that sometimes the little guys really win against the giants!

Fantastic Attorney!
I cannot say enough positive things about Ms. Dettling and her team. She returned my emails and phone calls within 24 hours. She worked diligently on my case and went above and beyond most other attorneys. Her rates are reasonable and she spent extra hours on my case and did not even charge me for the extra time. How many attorneys do that? She cares about her clients and always has their best interest at hand. I will definitely seek Ms. Dettling's services in the future. She is the only attorney for me. I recommend her to anybody. Thank you for everything.

Rosemary Dettling, Federal Employee Legal Services
Rosemary Dettling was the perfect attorney for me. I worked at the Postal Service for 20 years. I needed an attorney to help me in a discrimination suit. I had a hard time finding someone who knew federal EEO law. I talked to 5 or more attorneys in NY before I found the Federal Employee Legal Services Center in DC. Ms. Dettling and her staff were experts in federal sector employment law. She knew the law inside out, and was able to quickly understand the facts of my case. She was very easy to talk to and always got back to me within 24 hours. What a relief. I would highly recommend her!

Federal employee rights
Ms. Dettling is a fine attorney. I have worked with attorneys for nearly 35 years and would like to say that I can identify the best. Ms. Dettling was able to review a complex discrimination case, and prepare a motion within days. I am very pleased with the outcome of my case to date, and I expect that she will prevail not only in my case but many others to come. If you are looking for an attorney that is professional, trustworthy and knowledgeable, Ms. Dettling is the attorney you want working for you. She is without equal.

Client Review
I had already exhausted a search in my state for a lawyer specializing in EEO Title VII Civil Rights cases and was directed to pursue my quest with several lawyers in the Washington DC area. None specialized in EEO Civil Rights cases, but I was advised that Rosemary Dettling was definitely the lawyer I wanted for my EEO/Civil Rights case. That statement proved to be absolutely correct. Ms. Dettling is savvy, formidable, keen, quick to identify an effective course of action, extremely articulate and knowledgeable and consistently exhibits a forceful yet professional, respectful and classly style of defense. I have been working closely with Ms. Dettling for 1.5 years and I am without a doubt that I have retained the best EEO/Civil Rights defense lawyer for my case hands down.
